Sales Agent (Consultant role)
Closing date: (17:00) Tuesday, 17 June 2025
Faith to Faithless is a service of Humanists UK. We are now recruiting for a Sales Agent to sell our Apostasy Awareness training to statutory, education, and voluntary sector organisations.
What you'll be selling
Leaving a high-control religion can be a complicated process, often resulting in emotional abuse from family and community. Shunning and complete disownment is not uncommon, and this isolation can lead to depression and other poor outcomes. Physical abuse, often referred to as honour violence can follow. In Britain, it is often particularly hard for ex-Evangelical Christians, ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses, ex-Muslims and for people who have left an Ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect.
Our Apostasy Awareness training has been developed to inform frontline services about apostates and how to support them with best practice. We have trained many organisations, including the Metropolitan Police on this topic. Local authorities, police, social services, NHS workers, homeless shelters, teachers, university staff, and charities are all encouraged to take our training. Our target audience is any organisation which supports individuals, with a particular focus on statutory services, support charities, and universities.
Our training covers:
• Awareness of the most common issues faced by apostates.
• Referrals to relevant organisations that can help apostates.
• Language -- helpful and unhelpful ways to talk about leaving religion.
• Ways in which apostasy differs from some other forms of religious discrimination.
• Safeguarding implications specific to the organisation.
Is this the right position for you?
We are looking for an experienced Sales Agent, with sympathy for this cause and a willingness to develop their understanding of this very unique service, in order to sell this training course.
Building customer relationships via email and over the phone, you’ll target statutory, voluntary, and educational organisations to sell our 90 minute, half day or full day training. After gaining a commitment to book the training from the organisation you will then transfer the relationship to our Apostasy Services Development Officer (ASDO) who will confirm dates. In cases where a person with authority in an organisation would prefer to speak to a professional from our team before booking, you will be paid a qualified lead fee.
The ideal candidate will already hold experience in sales within these sectors and will preferably already have a contact list.
Fee payable: Sales Agents will receive 20% of the training booking fee. We expect training to sell at the cost of £350 for a half a day or £600 for a full day. However, the sales agent will have power to negotiate costs.

About Humanists UK
We started out in 1896, and since then we’ve always been a growing movement at the forefront of social change. Today we’re trusted by over 120,000 members and supporters and over 70 local and special interest affiliates to promote humanism.
We put humanism into practice through effective campaigning and services, supporting lasting change for happier, more fulfilling lives. Our policies are informed with the support of over 150 of the UK’s most prominent philosophers, scientists, and other thinkers and experts and we seek to advance them with the help of over 100 parliamentarians in membership of the All Party Parliamentary Humanist Group. We bring like-minded people together to make change happen, and we strive to be their voice in public debate, drawing on contemporary humanist thought and the worldwide humanist tradition.
We’ve been conducting non-religious funerals, weddings, and baby-namings for 120 years. Our highly trained celebrants are the best you’ll find anywhere, and they support individuals to create authentic, bespoke ceremonies that put people and their stories at the heart of every occasion.
We also help vulnerable people easily access like-minded and effective non-religious pastoral support that is specially tailored to work for them. Our trained and accredited non-religious pastoral support volunteers operate across hospitals, prisons, and the armed forces.
